Addy's Surgery

Thank you everyone for praying for our sweet Addy!  Surgery went good.  It felt like it took forever!  The Dr said it didn't take as long as he thought that it would.  He also said that he was glad she got in there sooner because her ureter was huge and it was only going to get worse.  The problem was a small section of her ureter that connected to the bladder was very narrow which the "back-up" is what made her ureter get to big.  He cut out the narrow section and reattached it to the bladder.  He then cut a section off of the ureter and stiched it up in length to make it the size that it should be. The Dr had to put a stent in to keep the ureter in place.  We have to go back in 3 weeks to get that out.  Which means she will have to be put under again :(.  That appointment is not going to be fun! She goes on Thursday for a follow up with the urologist to see how she is doing.

The surgery time was said to be an hour and a half.  The Dr said "it didn't take me as long as I thought."  I thought to myself you've had my baby for over 2 hours!  I realized... the "hour and a half" estimate is the time that the Dr is there and actually performing the surgery...  From the time that she left us until the time that we saw her was 3 hours!  I was about to come out of my skin!  I could definately feel the prayers and felt God's presence during this time... but I was so antsy and ready to see her!  We opted for the nurses to give her happy juice to help with the seperation.  It didn't help :(  It was awful!  The nurses had to take her from us because she wouldn't stay on the bed.  They placed her on the bed and wheeled her away from us... It was just like in the movies... The big double doors closing her screaming and reaching for us!  Ugh... break my heart!  It was awful!

So we waited and waited...  Once Addison was brought to us she was sleeping and slept and slept.  She opened her eyes only for a few seconds.  She started to get really flush and sweaty.  The nurses checked her temperature and it was 100.3 a mere .1 away from a fever!  My stomach dropped.  I texted my mother in law and said PRAY!  The nurses continued to come in and check her temperature every 15 minutes. We put cool clothes on her head. It never climbed and quickly went drown!  Praise the LORD!  God is so good!  She was still really sweaty for a while.  She was pretty out of it and then suddenly woke up and wanted to color.  (that's what she was doing in the waiting room before surgery)  So we colored and then she just wanted me to color.  So I did and then she fell asleep.  Nathan stayed the night with her.  Mainly because Miley is nursing and we didn't think that she would sleep well at the hospital.  So I came home around 8:30 to get Miley to bed and then came back up the next day.  Addison woke up shortly after I left    :( and ate.  Nathan texted me pics and videos of her.  I'm so thanful for that!  It was really hard to leave her.

Addison has to take it easy for 7-10 days.  Yeah right!  The day we came home from the hospital she was trying to jump on the bed!   She is doing really good.  She goes through spurts of feeling good and running around and me getting on to her for it! :) And then she'll lay around on the couch for a while.  I am so thankful that this is almost over with!  I'm so so so thankful that she is doing so well!

Here are some pics they are from my iphone so they aren't the best.

Trying to cool her down.

Here is when she woke up and wanted to eat.

Nathan sent me this video after I left.

The next day she was up and played some.  They have a playroom on the floor and a lady came in with some painting stuff and Addison really enjoyed that.

Resting and waiting to be released from the hospital to go home!

Taylor came to the hospital with me the day after the surgery.  She was really concerned about Addison.  We explained everything the best that we could.  But she had to see her for herself!  She was so sweet and has been while Addy recovered.
